Noble Foods is the UK's leading supplier of fresh eggs to major retailers, individually grading, packing, and delivering in excess of 72 million eggs for its customers each week. In an effort to combat empty, cluttered and confusing retail shelves, Noble Foods has focused on improving the shopping experience and the company prides itself on delivering innovative pack design and attractive in-store displays.
Over the last 10 years, Polymer Logistics has been working closely with Noble Foods to ensure that its eggs are transported and merchandised in the best possible way. Prior to our involvement, filled egg boxes were stacked on pallets at the packing centre for transport to a retailer's DC, which meant the boxes could be damaged before they reached the individual stores.
Polymer Logistics suggested a better solution. By now locating the filled egg boxes into a pooled ambient shipper, Noble Foods has seen a significant reduction in breakages during transit. Similarly, the full shippers also serve as sales floor displays, which not only cuts replenishment time in store but further reduces handling breakages as there is no need for store staff to locate the egg boxes onto in-fixture shelving. In total, Noble has been able to cut breakages by 30% and reduce wastage too. With fewer packs soiled by broken eggs, fewer packs need to be thrown away and potential sales are maximised – which is good news for both Noble Foods and the retailers.
